At Shoreline Pile Driving, we make your lakefront projects our top priority. Recent changes at Front Counter BC could impact your waterfront development plans, but we’re here to keep you informed and prepared.

Early Planning is Key

All permit applications are now processed through the Kamloops Office, which has extended review times and delayed approvals. These changes could significantly affect your project’s timeline, but with Shoreline by your side, we’ll ensure you’re ahead of the game.

Whether you’re building or upgrading a dock, early planning and prompt permit submission are more important than ever. Before you begin, make sure you have the right permits in place—General or Specific Permission—depending on the dock’s size and location.

General Permission (Approx. Processing Time: 45-60 Days)

This permit applies to:

  • Single residential docks.
  • Docks located at least 5 meters from property boundaries.
  • Docks extending no more than 42 meters into the lake.

Specific Permission (Approx. Processing Time: 2-5 years)

This applies to docks that don’t meet the General Permission guidelines, including:

  • Shared dock structures.
  • Properties in paper subdivisions.
  • Sites with archaeological importance or Notice of Interest.

Important Provincial Changes

Recent changes have caused substantial delays, especially for Specific Permission permits, which now take 2 to 5 years to obtain with no expedited options. Early action is essential to avoid unexpected holdups.
